DNA recombination, molecular model
DNA recombination. Molecular model of a Holliday Junction, a moving point of contact between two DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) double helices that have been unravelled into four strands during DNA recombination. This recombination is a natural genetic event and involves the crossing over of the DNA strands to produce two new double helices that are different from the originals. The chains in the strands are colour coded: chain E (green), chain F (cyan), chain G (magenta), chain H (yellow) and chain I (pink), chain J (grey), chain K (blue) and chain L (orange).
