Germination experiment
Germination experiment using seeds from the Sisymbrium supinum plant, native to northern Europe and under threat of extinction. The seeds (below), arranged in petri dishes, have been placed in a refrigerator to germinate. Seedlings are on the upper shelves. By exposing different seeds to different conditions, the scientists hope to find the best method of preserving the seeds.
