Bernhard Edmaier, German photographer
Bernhard Edmaier. German landscape photographer Bernhard Edmaier inside a helicopter. Edmaier was born in 1957 near Munich, and studied building and construction technology, then geology. After completing a course to become a qualified photographer, Edmaier combined his photographic skills with his knowledge and love of geology. Active areas of the Earth, such as volcanoes, erosion patterns and glaciers such as this one are captured from a variety of angles and altitudes. The majority of the work is aerial photography, for which a helicopter is usually used. Edmaier has published several books, including \Geoart\" (1998), \"Icy worlds\" (1996), \"Colours of the Earth\" (2002) and \"Earthsong\" (2004)."
