The front of the body is at top and the spine can be seen below (solid white). The patient's right kidney (blue, left) has been lacerated, causing it to haemorrhage (bleed) and become displaced downward. Lacerations are irregular, tear-like wounds caused by some form of blunt trauma. Kidney lacerations are also common injuries associated with contact-sports.
