The World's Greatest Man
Michael Faraday
(Date taken unknown)
The English chemist & physicist Michael Faraday & his friend the English chemist John F. Daniell (left) seen in Faraday's laboratory. Faraday, 1791-1867, is considered the greatest of all experimental physicists. In 1825 he discovered the compound called benzene but he is better known for his studies on electrolysis & electro-magnetic phenomena. In 1832 Faraday formulated the Laws of Electrolysis which dictate the behaviour of a chemical solution in the presence of electric currents. He also devised the first electric motor and other electric apparatus such as transformers & dynamos. Daniell, 1790-1845, is known for his work on primary cells devising the Daniell cell.
