Michael Faraday
(Date unknown)
Faraday's last home. Artwork of Michael Faraday's last home, a 'grace and favour' house at Hampton Court, London, England, provided by the crown. He was born into poverty and poorly educated, however he became one of Britain's most famous scientists. He is best known for studies on electrolysis and electromagnetic phenomena. His electromagnetic research formed the background for the unified electromagnetic theory elaborated by James Maxwell. In 1832 Faraday formulated the Laws of Electrolysis which dictate the behaviour of a chemical solution in electric currents. He devised the first electric motor and equipment such as transformers and dynamos.
