Child awaiting surgery comforted by theatre nurse
MODEL RELEASED. Child awaits surgery. A six year- old boy lies on a hospital bed in a pre-operative room, while a theatre nurse prepares him for an operation. The nurse is reassuring the worried child and has stethoscope around her neck. The child is holding onto a toy teddy bear for comfort. At this stage before an operation, the patient usually receives premedication. This consists of anaesthetic and analgesic drugs to make the patient unconscious and not feel pain during surgery.
