Time-release pill
Illustration of a time-release pill capsule. A pill capsule of this type usually has a hard or soft shell made of dissolvable gelatine. Here, a specially designed capsule which releases its contents into the small intestine at a slow, steady rate, is dissolving. A drug administered in this way need be taken less frequently than if it were given in the usual form of a tablet or pill.
