Tuberculosis treatment
Tuberculosis treatment. Injection of streptomycin into a patient's buttock. This is an antibiotic used to treat tuberculosis, an infection by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It usually infects the lungs and can cause severe scarring. If tuberculosis (TB) is not completely eradicated, then drug-resistant forms can develop. The recommended strategy is DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course), where the taking of the drugs is supervised by medical personnel.
