Hypnotherapist patients in parachute jump
Hypnotherapy and stress alleviation. A parachute instructor briefs a patient who has just received hypnotherapy treatment for stress. Under hypnosis, the patient and therapist talked through all aspects of the parachute jump, confronting the patient's fears. After coming out of hypnosis, the patient is able to deal with the stress and anxiety of the jump. This is part of a research programme into self-help techniques for people suffering from stress. The parachute jump is simply a controllable stress input, a common analogue to the different stresses felt by different patients.
