Undescended tooth treatment
MODEL RELEASED. Undescended tooth treatment. Ultraviolet (UV) lamp tool being used by an orthodontist on a 14-year-old patient. The UV light sets the cement, known as glass ionomer cement (GIC), which is being used to secure a gold attachment onto an undescended tooth. The patient previously had a premolar tooth and a piece of palate (mouth roof) bone removed to make room for the undescended tooth to come through. A gold chain will be put on the gold attachment and linked to a metal mouth brace to pull it down and encourage it to descend into the correct position.
