Urinalysis in pregnancy: doctor with test stick
Urine analysis in pregnancy. General practice doctor's hands hold a urine-dipped multiple test stick and its reference chart beside the abdomen of a pregnant woman. This is a Multistix urine test. The colour of each pad is checked against the chart after a specific amount of time has elapsed. The pads are used to test for different substances in the urine including protein, blood, bilirubin, glucose and ketones. Other pads check the acidity (pH) of the urine and its specific gravity. The Multistix test plays a useful role in monitoring the health of pregnant women.
