Taking temperature
Measuring temperature. Sick young boy lies with a thermometer in his armpit. His temperature may be read using the scale running along the thermometer. An armpit temperature above 36. 8 degrees Celsius may show that he has a fever (pyrexia), although temperatures vary with time and from person to person. Most fevers are caused by bacterial or viral infections, and also cause shivering, sweating, thirst and hot skin.
