Thyroid glands, post-mortem
Thyroid glands, post-mortem. The thyroid glands are found in the neck. They are part of the endocrine system, releasing thyroid hormones into the bloodstream to regulate the rate of the body's metabolism and growth. Post-mortem examinations, also known as autopsies, are carried out to identify a cause of death, and to assess the health of a dead person's organs.
