Medical training dummy
Medical training dummy being treated in a mock operating theatre. This interactive dummy, known as a Human Patient Simulator (HPS), is a life- size computer-controlled mannequin that can simulate the responses expected of a real patient. The HPS can 'breathe', has a heart beat and its physiology can be altered to mimic a particular kind of patient. This means the dummy can be male or female, young or old and fit or unwell. The HPS is operated by trainers in a control room, who are linked to trainers in the operating theatre by radio headsets. Photographed at the Bristol Medical Simulation Centre, UK.
