Artwork showing an earthquake on Miranda, one of the moons of Uranus. The surface of this moon is characterised by many impact craters with diameters ranging from 500 m to 50 km. Miranda has a diameter of 670 km and a mean distance from Uranus (seen in the background) of about 130,000 km. Like Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune, the atmosphere of Uranus is primarily composed of hydrogen and helium. The atmosphere of the planet occupies about 30% of its radius and overlies an ocean of water, ammonia and methane at very high pressure (200,000 bar) and temperature (2500 Kelvin). The thin ring system of Uranus is also visible silhouetted against the planet.
