Ring galaxy NGC 1291. Ultraviolet (blue) and visible light (red) composite image of the galaxy NGC 1291. This galaxy appears ring-shaped due to its circular arms (blue). Its nucleus (red) appears oval, as it is slightly bar-shaped. NGC 1291 lies some 33 million light years from Earth, in the constellation Eridanus. Image obtained using the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) Orbiter telescope and the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, Chile.
