Optical photograph of the small magellanic cloud
The night sky as seen from the southern hemisphere is seen in this photograph taken from the island of Fiji, in the South Pacific. The fuzzy bright patch slightly above and to the right of centre is the Small Magellanic Cloud, one of the Milky Way's companion galaxies. Part of a palm tree frond is visible at bottom left.
