Nuclear safety research, PHEBUS program

This is the Phebus FP program, conducted at the Phebus reactor in Cadarache, in southern France. Phebus is a miniature pressurized water reactor (PWR) equipped with hundreds of sensors to gather data during simulated nuclear accidents. The first simulated meltdown took place in 1993. The initial Phebus program was followed by the Phebus 2K program in 2000.
