Firefighters
Firefighters. Firefighters run to extinguish a spot fire at the perimeter of a forest fire. These firefighters are part of an elite crew of US firefighters known as 'hotshots'. They respond to fires rapidly and employ a variety of ground and air techniques to manage forest fires. On the ground, the firefighters carry hand tools such as shovels and pulaski axes to construct clear areas of land, known as a firebreak, in an attempt to halt the spread of the forest fire. Photographed in 2002 at Glenwood Springs, Colorado, USA.
