Fishing fleet
Fishing fleet sheltering from a storm. The boats are safely inside a harbour. Across the bay, large waves are pounding the coastline. Enormous waves like these could severely damage the boats. The waves are part of a storm surge in which high winds have combined with high tides to produce extreme conditions. This storm, rated Force 11, took place in October 2004. Photographed in Newlyn Harbour, Cornwall, UK.
