Studying metal corrosion due to seawater
Studying seawater corrosion of metals. Metal samples (right) placed beside the sea as part of a study on the effects of seawater on metals, and on the effectiveness of various protective coatings. Electrochemical and other analytical methods are being used in the experiment. The salt content of sea water can quickly corrode metals if they are not protected. This work is being carried out by the Institute for Marine Corrosion of Metals, Italy.
