Container port security
Container port security. This drive-through X-ray scanner at Southampton Container Terminal, UK, is part of the Secure Freight Initiative pilot program. All containers destined for the USA are scanned for the presence of nuclear and other radioactive materials. They are then driven through this scanner to see if they contain any dense material that could be shielding radioactivity. The initiative is designed to prevent the import of nuclear weapons or dirty bombs to the USA.
