Edward Pearce (about 1630-1695) Sir Christopher Wren, Marble. Sir Christopher Wren was the pre-eminent architect of the day. This lively portrait is one of the most remarkable sculpted in England in the 1600's. It was made about 1673. Pearce was a varver, mason, contractor and designer who had worked with Wren on three of the architect's London churches, built after the Great Fire of London.
