House cricket on a spoon
House cricket (Acheta domesticus) inside a tomato on a spoon. The eating of insects, entomophagy, occurs all over the world, and includes ants, beetles and moths. Insects, along with arachnids such as spiders and scorpions, are good sources of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The house cricket lives in cellars, bakeries and on rubbish dumps.
