Leaf mimic bush cricket on a twig
Leaf mimic bush cricket (family Tettigoniidae) on a twig. This bush cricket has evolved to closely resemble the shape and colouration of the leaves of the plants on which it lives. This acts as a form of camouflage, helping the insect to hide from predators. Photographed in the Amazon rainforest at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station, Ecuador.
