Seven-spot ladybirds roosting
Seven-spot ladybirds (Coccinella septempunctata) roosting on a leaf in preparation for hibernation. These ladybirds hibernate in autumn and winter for 5-6 months, living off fat reserves and hiding on the underside of leaves to avoid predators. They are around 7 milimetres long, hunting aphids and other small insects.
