Silver-washed fritillary butterfly flying
Silver-washed fritillary butterfly (Argynnis paphia) flying over daffodils (Narcissus sp.) in front of a church. This butterfly is one of the largest fritillaries, with a wing span of up to 6 centimetres. The top of the wings are red- orange with black markings, but the underside of the hind wings have a silver-green lustre. A. paphia is predominantly a woodland species and is found throughout central Europe.
