Giant African millipede
African giant millipede (Order Diplopoda) crawling across a desk in a classroom. This arthropod is a popular pet and school exhibit. Species of African giant millipede can grow to lengths of just over thirty centimetres. In the wild, they inhabit warm dark places of tropical and sub-tropical Africa. Giant millipedes are detritivores, feeding on decomposing organic material.
