Sea squirt
Sea squirt (Didemnum molle) on a rock. This sea squirt (class Ascidiacea) is a tunicate animal that filters plankton from the water that circulates through its siphons (small holes). It is part of the phylum Chordata and therefore has a notochord (primitive spinal cord) during its early stages of development. Sea squirt larvae are free-swimming and resemble tadpoles, but as they mature they become more barrel-like in shape and are immobile (seen here).
