Blacktip reef sharks
Blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus). These sharks are found in shallow coastal waters, often around reefs, singly or in small groups. They hunt fish, but also feed on crustaceans as well as molluscs such as squid and octopus. They can reach lengths of 2 metres. C. melanopterus is found in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region. Photographed off Moorea Island, French Polynesia, in the Pacific Ocean.
