Blue-green damselfish
Blue-green damselfish (Chromis viridis) swimming around an Acropora coral that they are using for protection. When disturbed, they will hide in the spaces between the coral branches. This fish is found on reefs in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It feeds on plankton, mostly taking plant material, and can reach a length of around eight centimetres. Its bright colour and small size make it a popular aquarium fish. Photographed in the Red Sea, near Marsa Alam on the southern coast of Egypt.
