Golden trevally
Golden trevally (Gnathanodon speciosus) swimming amongst seaweed. The golden trevally is a member of the Carangidae family. It can grow up to 1.1 metres in length and 15 kilograms in weight. It is found in lagoons and reefs up to depths of 10 metres. Trevally fish are fast-swimming, aggresive predators that gather in large schools during the day, making it hard for predators to target an individual fish. At night the school splits up to feed on smaller fish, as well as crustaceans and molluscs. Photographed in the Red Sea, Egypt.
