Shaded batfish
Shaded batfish (Platax pinnatus) being cleaned by a bluestreak cleaner wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus). This is a symbiotic relationship between the two fish. The batfish is cleaned of parasites by the wrasse, which feeds on the parasites. The shaded batfish, also known as the longfin batfish, is found in the tropical Indo- West Pacific. It feeds on small invertebrates and can grow up to 35 centimetres in length. Photographed in Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
