Poison arrow frog
Poison-arrow frog. View of a yellow, green & black poison-arrow frog Dendrobates ventrimarmoros. Its vivid warning colours indicate the toxicity of its skin. The South American Indians use the cutaneous poison of these frogs for the tips of their arrows. It contains a neurotoxin which can paralyse a bird or a small mammal almost immediately. These frogs are found in Central & South America. Photographed in Ecuador.
