Carpet chameleon on a plant
Carpet chameleon (Furcifer lateralis) on a branch, showing the bright colouration typical of many chameleons. Furcifer chameleons are endemic to madagascar and occur throughout the island's forests. Chameleons are able to change colour. They use this ability for camouflage, mating displays and when threatened. Photographed in the Montagne des Francais Reserve, Madagascar.
