Red-tailed hawk
Red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) in captivity perched on a keeper's gloved hand. This bird of prey inhabits open country throughout North and Central America. It can grow up to 50 centimetres in length and has a varied diet of small mammals, birds, reptiles and large insects. Photographed at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, Maitland, Florida, USA.
