Great black backed gull
Great black backed gull (Larus marinus) carrying a dead manx shearwater (Puffinus puffinus) in its beak. This is the largest species of gull. It is 61-74 centimetres in length, with a wingspan up to 1.7 metres. It is an omnivore and will scavenge as well as hunt for small prey. It can swallow a smaller bird whole.
