Pied kingfisher
Pied kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) holding a fish in its beak. This boldly-patterned bird catches its prey by plunge-diving into rivers, marshes and coastal waters. It feeds on fish, crustaceans and large insects, catching them in its long, tapering beak. This kingfisher is found in much of Africa, as well as India, the Middle East and South-East Asia. Photographed in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
