Brown-hooded kingfisher
Brown-hooded kingfisher (Halcyon albiventris). This kingfisher can be solitary, though it is also found in pairs. It lives in woodlands thickets, and riverine and coastal bushlands. It eats mainly insects, lizards, and similar small animals. It is not an aquatic kingfish, though it will sometimes dive for fish. Photographed in the Drakensberg region of South Africa.
