Lioness
Female lion (Panthera leo) panting. Almost all of a lion pride's hunting is performed by the females, who stalk and ambush large herbivores and their offspring. They hunt mainly at night, but are also active during the cooler parts of the day. P. leo is found in savannah and scrubland throughout sub-Saharan African and in scattered areas in India.
