Feral goats. View of two feral goats (Capra sp.) overlooking the Alcedo volcanic crater on Isabela Island, one of the Galapagos archipelago. These goats descended from domestic goats brought to the Galapagos Islands by human settlers. Goats are resourceful creatures which can easily adapt to harsh climates and terrain. They eat all manner of plant material, and have provided stiff competition for the native wildlife. Animals such as giant tortoises and land iguanas have seen their populations decimated since the arrival of these adaptable creatures.
