Toshihide Maskawa, Professor of Kyoto Sangyo University, delivers the keynote speech at the forum "Message to the Next Generation" with Nobel Laureates. The lecture is titled "Approaching the Roots of This World. Answers and fascination through experimentation. On February 8, a forum with Nobel laureates, "Message to the Next Generation," was held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, inviting two Nobel laureates in physics. Under the theme of "Approaching the Roots of the World," Prof. Toshihide Maskawa of Kyoto Sangyo University (2008 laureate) and Dr. Leona Esaki, President of Yokohama College of Pharmacy (1973 laureate) delivered keynote speeches. In the panel discussion, Prof. Yoshihito Asai of the University of Tokyo, who is engaged in research on the Higgs boson, which is believed to be the origin of mass, joined the panelists to exchange views on the appeal of science and the difference between basic research and applied research.
