Barred spiral galaxy, Hubble image
Barred spiral galaxy NGC 1022, Hubble Space Telescope image. This galaxy is located in the constellation Cetus, 66 million light years away from Earth. The centre of the galaxy has a bar of stars with swirling arms emerging from its ends. This galaxy was observed by Hubble in order to study black holes and to research whether there is a link between the size of a black hole and the properties of a galaxy., Photo by ESA/Hubble & NASA, A.
