Swedish-ESO Submillimetre telescope
Swedish-ESO-Submillimetre Telescope (SEST) at the La Silla Observatory in Chile. This is a 15 metre diameter radio telescope that was built in 1987 by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and the Onsala Space Observatory, Sweden, and was decommissioned in 2003. At the time, SEST was the only sub-millimetre telescope in the southern hemisphere and has been superseded by the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA)., Photo by EUROPEAN SOUTHERN OBSERVATORY/A.
