Rattlesnake blood vessels, 3D CT scans
Rattlesnake blood vessels. Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) scans of the vasculature of a Mojave rattlesnake (Crotalus scutulatus). The upper scan is a ventral (from below) view, while the lower scan is a dorsal (from above) view. These scans show the vasculature of infectious abnormal granulomas on the snake's spine. The vascular features were highlighted using BriteVu contrast medium. This DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) dataset was rendered by Daz Studio Pro. The CT datasets are courtesy of Dr Scott Echols.
