On July 1, 1954, the Self-Defense Forces transformed from the Police Reserve Corps to the Self-Defense Forces, despite constitutional controversy. Following the primary defense (1958-35), the secondary defense (1962-1941) ), the military was rapidly upgraded.
On February 6, 1964, the JGSDF's Fuji School conducted a display exercise at the Higashi-Fuji Training Area. The last was an assault, but it included 1/4-ton truckload 106 mm recoilless guns, 105 mm and 155-mmdr ammunition, M24 and M41 and Mechanized heavy equipment consisting of M24, M41, and M4 tanks at the JGSDF Higashi-Fuji Training Area in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on February 6, 1964.
