Eyewall of Hurricane Ida
Eyewall of Hurricane Ida, seen from inside the eye on 29 August 2021. At this point, Ida was a Category Four hurricane. This towering mass of white clouds is part of the eyewall, the area around the central eye, and where the strongest winds are found. Photographed from a WP-3D Orion airplane on a NOAA hurricane hunter flight.
