JR's new freight line, which Katsushika Ward is considering converting to a passenger line, is a single track line running north-south through the ward, passing near Shinkoiwa Station on the JR Sobu Line and Kanamachi Station on the Joban Line. The number of trains in operation has been decreasing due to the diversification of freight transport. In Katsushika-ku, Tokyo; January 8, 2022 evening edition, "Shinkoiwa-Kanamachi Freight Line to be converted to passenger service. Katsushika Ward aims to partially open the line in 2008, and to adopt low-floor cars.
