Forceps delivery, 19th century illustration
Illustration of a section through a female pelvis during labour, or childbirth. The first of a pair of obstetrical forceps is being placed around the baby's head to aid delivery. Obstetrical forceps may be used in difficult births or when the baby is in distress and needs to be delivered quickly.
